SUNDRE — The public hearing for the proposed Sundre Hills area structure plan bylaw originally set for later this month has been postponed with no firm alternate date yet in place.
During the regular June 13 meeting, council heard from Linda Nelson, chief administrative officer, that the request was brought forward by the municipality’s planning and development department.
The public hearing date was initially set by council during the May 16 meeting to be held on June 27.
The recommended motion alluded simply to postponing the public hearing without setting an alternate date.
Mayor Richard Warnock asked administration whether the motion might require the inclusion of a future date.
“Or is this proper procedure to leave it open-ended without a date?” Warnock asked.
“It was to request that council postpone the public hearing just to a future date. So, no fixed date,” answered Nelson, adding that setting a date for the public hearing will eventually come back before council.
Barring further comments or questions, council proceeded to carry a motion postponing the public hearing to a yet-determined future date.
Responding to a follow-up question submitted by the Albertan regarding why the hearing was postponed, Sundre’s senior planner Benazir Thaha Valencia said, “It was mutually agreed upon to postpone the public hearing set for June 27 to a later date in order to provide more time to consider internal and external review comments and to further develop the area structure plan.”
The area structure plan’s applicant is Bob Wescott of Westcott Consulting Group.
