Recognition of service award

Late last month at the Sundre constituency office Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre MLA Jason Nixon presented Murray Bates with a Long Service Medal and an Emergency Services medal. The awards were in recognition of the decades of service Bates provided as a Fish and Wildlife officer as well as a community peace officer. In the mid-90s, he saved several people from a boating accident on the South Saskatchewan River, but only regretted not being able to save the whole group.
