A Sundre female recently pleaded guilty to assault and was subsequently sentenced to almost two months in jail, probation, and a $100 fine.
Following a December 2017 altercation at a property on Sundre’s east side, Dawn Lindsey Dominick was arrested and charged with several offences.
Police reported that on Dec. 9, Dominick had arrived at a residence located east of the Red Deer River along Main Avenue, and got into an argument with the homeowner, resulting in a physical altercation. Following the assault, RCMP said she attempted to vacate the property but was not able to get her vehicle started, prompting her to instead leave on foot before officers arrived at the scene.
Later that evening, Dominick was located at a friend’s residence, where she refused to cooperate with police and was consequently taken into custody and charged with assault, mischief, uttering threats, as well as assaulting an officer, which occurred during the arrest. The 33-year-old also had several arrest warrants out for unrelated matters, which were executed, said the Sundre RCMP.
The accused was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody to appear in Didsbury provincial court on Dec. 11, and later on Jan. 15 was convicted of assault against the homeowner and the officer after pleading guilty. Dominick was sentenced to 57 days in jail followed by a one-year probation after her release. She was also fined $100, and the charges of mischief and uttering threats were withdrawn.
