Motor vehicle thefts around Sundre and the surrounding area have gone up in 2015 compared to last year, the local RCMP detachment commander recently told council. The vehicles stolen the most tend to be Ford F350 pickup trucks, said Sgt.

The Sundre RCMP detachment received 86 calls for service between Nov. 16 and Nov.

The Town of Sundre's new community services manager competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. Ian James, originally from Ontario, had also pre-qualified for the1996 Games but an injury he sustained to his Achilles tendon cut his athletic career short.

Changes and additions to the annual Sundown in Sundre went over really well, said the Sundre and District Chamber of Commerce president.

This past year was not drastically different from last year for Sundre's community peace officer.

Although the Sundre RCMP has received fewer calls for service over the past year, there has been an increase in property crimes. The Sundre RCMP detachment's Sgt. Jim Lank presented council with a report comparing 2015 statistics to 2014.

Feedback on the new Snake Hill Beta Loop natural trail was largely positive, but one councillor would have preferred more input from the community in a survey released in October.

Although there have been instances of increased domestic disputes in some areas, the Sundre RCMP detachment's commander said that's probably due to people becoming more likely to call the police.
