PENHOLD – Having a plan of escape during a fire can save lives. This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 6 to 12 is Plan and Practice your Escape. It’s a message local fire departments are urging families to do.

INNISFAIL – Flu season has arrived. Despite some vaccine delays and shortages across parts of Canada, Alberta Health has confirmed that free flu clinics will go ahead as scheduled, beginning this month.

INNISFAIL - Pumpkins, activities, live music and a bit of sunshine welcomed hundreds of families for The Jungle Farm’s fall festival. The annual one-day event took place at the farm, just north of Innisfail on Oct. 5.

PENHOLD - A local apartment building was evacuated during the early morning of Oct. 4 when a dryer in a laundry room caught fire. There were no injuries to tenants or firefighters.

INNISFAIL – Food banks across the country are often struggling with a lack of donations at this time of year. Fall food drives, including those here in Innisfail, can make a big difference for needy families.

INNISFAIL - A mother and daughter have lost their bid to keep their soft-sided buildings on their property, structures they have primarily used for more than three years for Indigenous spiritual practices.
