If you weren't a teenage girl and sitting next to your father, the first Laugh Tracks show at Tracks Pub last Saturday evening ñ with some distinctly adult material ñ was by all accounts a successful bid to bring a regular comedy show to the area.

With their final screening of the season at the Mayfair Cinema last Sunday (April 9), the Mountain View Film Group celebrated its 10th anniversary of bringing independent movies to Olds.

A dozen local painters readied their palettes, wielded their brushes, and hit the stage to do battle in front of a 300-strong crowd at the Pomeroy March 25 for the fourth annual Art Battle.

Homegrown hardcore band Tattered will be playing a gig in Olds for the first time in close to two years on June 18 and they'll be doing it to raise funds for the Canadian Red Cross. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the TransCanada Theatre.

Members of the Olds Community Chorus perform under the direction of Ross Dabrusin during the group's Christmas Concert at the Olds First Baptist Church on Dec. 17.

The Olds High School Drama Club is presenting The Music Man at the TransCanada Theatre. Evening performances begin at 7 p.m. November 28 and 29 and December 5 and 6. Matinee performances begin at 2 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 7.

The Olds Art Club Fall Show and Sale takes place November 1 and 2 at the Olds College Bell e-Learning Centre (south foyer entrance). This year, the featured artist is longtime Olds-Bowden-area resident Marie Paterson.

For the month of October, local artist Betty Caskey has her full collection of artwork on display at the Mountain View Museum and Archives in Olds. It is also the first time all of it has been on display at the same time.

Those who didn't get their fill of Elvis impersonator Adam Fitzpatrick will have another chance to see him in Olds Oct. 14. That night he'll be performing at the TransCanada Theatre. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $39.99.
