The Community Learning Campus Fitness Centre in Olds will be raising funds for the Wild Rose Humane Society's effort to build a shelter in Central Alberta. From June 1 to 21, community members can come into the fitness centre and for a $2 donation can either use the fitness centre, track or gymnasium.“All the funds that are made from that program will go directly to the Wild Rose Humane Society (formerly the Airdrie and District Humane Society),” said Brittany Ehmann, CLC fitness programmer.“This is kind of a lead-off event … to our larger event in July, Strut Your Mutt (on July 21),” she said. The Strut Your Mutt fundraiser will include a barbecue and children's activities all in support of WRHS.Ehmann said the partnership with the WRHS is an important piece of the fitness centre's outreach to the community.“It's really important to us to support our community and groups like this in our community that provide such a vital service to our local area. Basically, we're trying to give back to our community. This is one of the ways we can incorporate fun and fitness while (helping) a local group in our community and help them provide that vital service that they give to our surrounding area,” she said.Anyone wanting more information about the two events can either call the fitness centre at 403-507-7782 or can type in www.gobroncos.ca or www.wildrosehumane.ca.
