DIDSBURY - The Didsbury Opera House has been restored -- at least in miniature form. Resident Kevin Bentley has built a replica of the opera house, which operated in town in the early 1900s.

Mountain View County council has approved funding allocations for a number of local organizations under the municipality’s health-care support grant program. The move came during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting.

About 120 people, including many youngsters, attended the annual Mountain View BearSmart Society (MVBS) Family Fun Day at Elkton Valley Campground.

DIDSBURY - The Didsbury Elks recently donated a comfort kit for pediatric patients to the Didsbury Hospital. Several Elks members were on hand at the hospital on May 22 for the donation.

Mountain View County council has approved a strategic plan for 2018-2021. The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled meeting. The plan was created with the assistance of Finley & Associates.

Mountain View County councillors have given first reading to a bylaw that would establish the updated South Carstairs Area Structure Plan (ASP) and set the related public hearing date.

DIDSBURY - A local resident attacked by a neighbour's dog in 2014 is calling for the resignation of Mayor Rhonda Hunter and CAO Harold Northcott, alleging they have both failed in the current handling of the incident.

CARSTAIRS - Laural Pederson recently wrote to council asking for permission for her 10-year-old daughter to operate a lemonade stand in town. In her letter Pederson wrote that since the family lives on Rge. Rd.

A second public hearing will be held in August for proposed amendments to the municipal development plan and the land use bylaw regarding a number of environmentally significant areas.

DIDSBURY - At the regular council meeting on May 22, council heard a presentation from Sam Smalldon, CAO of Mountain View Seniors' Housing (MVHS) about the organization's work, priorities and accountabilities.
