Innisfail Minor Hockey product, Kaleb Denham, was one of eight Central Alberta youth picked in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft last week. Denham was drafted 126th overall by the Tri-City Americans out of Kennewick, WA.

Three teams of slo-pitch players hit the field last weekend to kick off the season and remember one of Innisfail’s most dedicated ball players.

Despite a good second half in which the Olds High School Spartans senior girls' rugby team outscored the Rimbey Junior-Senior High School Spartans 17-10, the Olds group could not overcome a 33-0 first-half deficit during rugby action Wednesday.

The Central Alberta Amazons will be able to call themselves provincial champions after taking first place in the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League (AJFHL).

After three years of competitive badminton, Olds High School student Sara Odersky is off to the provincial championships Friday and Saturday in Strathmore.

After a few weeks indoor Sundre Soccer is ready to move out on the fields this week. Lots of kids are involved again in this new 2011 Soccer season. With 1 U16 boys team and 1 U16 girls team Sundre Soccer is definitely growing among the teenagers.

Although most of the snow may now be gone, one local skier will not be forgetting the past season anytime soon. Jade Sinnamon, a 10-year-old Spruce View School student, had the opportunity to attend a ski camp with some of Canada’s best this winter.

A busy season lays ahead for lacrosse players in Innisfail with both the Innisfail Minor Lacrosse Association and the Innisfail Yettis Junior Lacrosse team making advances for the sport in Innisfail and throughout Central Alberta.

The success of our Spring Fashion Show in April reminded us of what a tremendous year we had as a club. The year was filled with fun, excitement, talent and awesome opportunities which allowed us to grow as a skating club.

The Olds Athletics are looking to improve upon last year's semifinal appearance in the Parkland Baseball League with a largely intact squad from last year's team.
