Olds College is moving up the ranks. The college's futsal program has joined the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), just in time for the 2010-2011 season.

It came as no surprise to me last week when I received the media release from the Red Deer Rebels saying Landon Ferraro had been traded to the Everett Silvertips.

The Olds High School senior girls volleyball team was defeated in the quarter-final match at the annual Spartan Smash on Friday and Saturday. The Spartans lost to the Lacombe Rams in straight sets 15-25, 23-25.

Olds girls help Chiefs A trio of Olds hockey players were front and centre for the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs run to the semifinals of the prestigious Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament in Calgary over the holidays.

After a long preseason, the basketball teams at Olds College will begin playing in earnest, starting with the Western Canadian Championships the teams are hosting this weekend.
