There's a good chance the Red Deer Riggers could have another piece of hardware to adorn the mantle after tonight.

A trio of Central Albertans has survived the latest round of cuts made by Hockey Alberta.

It's not the way the Red Deer Buccaneers wanted to end the regular season. Coming off two consecutive bye weeks because of a schedule change, the Buccaneers looked rusty in a 20-7 loss on Saturday to the Stallions in Edmonton.

Now that training camp is done, the Red Deer Rebels are preparing for the 2010 - 2011 WHL exhibition season. Camp wrapped last Wednesday with the annual Black and White game, won by Team White 9 - 8 in the shootout.

Olds College is moving up the ranks. The college's futsal program has joined the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), just in time for the 2010-2011 season.

It came as no surprise to me last week when I received the media release from the Red Deer Rebels saying Landon Ferraro had been traded to the Everett Silvertips.
