MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY — Council has received an update on approved grant applications for cemeteries, playgrounds, community halls and transportation.
The review came during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting, held by teleconference.
The grant review committee approved cemetery funding totaling $13,000, with $14,080 requested.
The funds can be used for general operational expenses such as grass cutting and general maintenance.
The committee approved $10,600 in playground funding, including $3,500 for expansion of the playground at Dogpound, $5,000 for a new playground at James River, and $2,100 for playground inspection and repairs at Bearberry.
The committee approved $45,000 in rural community grant funding, including $2,000 for Bergen News, $5,000 for traction shed upgrade for First Alberta Two Cylinder Club, $5,000 for Mountain View Art Society, $2,500 for Midway Centennial Park improvements, and $5,000 for the Olds Community Chorus.
The committee approved $69,806 for rural community halls, including $11,500 for Bearberry Wapitana Society, $9,000 for Bergen Hall, $8,000 for Graham Community Association, and $5,000 for Water Valley Community Hall.
The committee approved $45,000 in transportation grant funding, including $10,000 for Accredited Supports to the Community, $4,500 for Cremona School Enhancement Society, $18,000 for Mountain View Seniors Housing transportation costs, and $2,500 for Sundre West Country Centre.
