MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Council has approved a development permit for the $50,000 expansion of the Mountain View Events pavilion near Cremona.
The move came by way of motion at the recent regularly scheduled council meeting, held in person and on Zoom.
The property is located about half a kilometre east of Cremona on the north side of Highway 580, at SW 2-30-4-5. The owner and applicant is Mountain View Events Ltd.
The permit is for an addition to accessory building - pavilion within the 10.6-acre parcel zoned direct control district, which allows for the development of an event facility with associated and supporting uses.
“The existing pavilion is 3,360 square feet and the addition is proposed to be 924 square feet to accommodate storage and washroom facilities,” administration said in a briefing note to council.
“The 924 square foot addition is proposed to be located on the south side of the existing pavilion. The addition is proposed to match the existing pavilion and will be complimentary to the main facility.”
A new roadside development permit is required to be obtained from Alberta Transportation as the proposed development is within 800 metres of Highway 580.
The direct control district also requires the submission of a stormwater management plan and a clearing and grading plan to address potential issues with drainage and has been reviewed and approved by MVC engineering technician.
The applicant told council water is brought to the site and sewage is stored in a tank and hauled away.
Administration reviewed the application and supported the development permit application.
