1925 – 2024
Jean ‘Jeannie’ Vining Benoit passed away at Innisfail, Alberta on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the age of 98 years.
Jean was born in Hillsdown, Alberta on June 11, 1925, and was married to Joe Benoit on May 6, 1948, at St. Mary’s Church with reception at the Club Cafe in Red Deer, Alberta. Prior to moving to Innisfail, Alberta in 1998, they lived on the farm west of Penhold, Alberta and prior to that, various locations in Alberta and Ontario.
She was a caring volunteer at the Pentecostal Church and elsewhere, an excellent gardener and cook. Jean served in the armed forces in WWII and went on to work various jobs throughout her life of raising eight children. The family would like to thank Sunset Manor nursing home staff and residence for their compassion, friendship & joyful love, they shared with us and Jean. Thank you, Jean, for the impact you have had on so many of our lives! All who knew her said she was one of the hardest working and best character people that they knew. May you be rewarded by Jesus in the new life you have begun.
She was the last of her three siblings Dell, Violet and Doris and the last of her generation for both her family and Joe’s.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her seven children, Sergei (Rena), Rene (Evelyn), Michele (Rod), Vining (Joanne 2008), Marcia (Bob), Bart (Cory), Mark (Andrea), seventeen grandkids, and several great and great-great grandkids.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Joe in 2008, her daughter, Jackie in 1997 and grandson, Felix Kuzmicki in 1999.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Heartland Funeral Services Chapel, 4415 – 49 Street, Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Jean’s honor may be made directly to the Arthritis Society of Canada at www.arthritis.ca.
