The Community Learning Campus fitness centre will be helping out the Mountain View Food Bank over the next two weeks, collecting donations of non-perishable food items.

The effort was to begin Monday and run until Dec. 14. Anyone using the facility on a drop-in basis will receive free admission with the donation of a non-perishable food item, said Brittany Ehmann, a programmer at the fitness centre.

“We try and do events like this year round to support our community and those in need … so this is our one that we're running for the Christmas season. It's for a great cause and we always like to support our community,” she said.

Last year, fitness centre patrons donated 300 pounds of food. This year, the fitness centre hopes to beat that mark.

“All food can be dropped off at the CLC fitness centre front desk … and have it benefit those in the community in need,” she said.
