OLDS — The Olds and District Chamber of Commerce is once again holding an in-person annual general meeting (AGM) after a couple of years’ hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions.

This year’s AGM will be held March 9 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 in Olds starting at 11:45 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

Among other things, attendees will choose board members for the upcoming fiscal year.

After the AGM, elected members will meet to choose the chamber’s executive.

If you’d like to run for a seat on the chamber board, vice-president Doug Rieberger says as of last week, three or four seats still remained open.

He said anyone interested in running for a seat on the board should contact him or current chamber president Cassidy Rochemont via the chamber’s email address: [email protected].

The deadline to do so is March 4.

Rieberger is relieved the chamber’s AGM will finally be an in-person event.

“I actually am excited to be able to meet in person and be able to do the business of the chamber in person instead of online,” Rieberger said. “I have found, just with the different organizations I’m involved with and that, when you meet in person, a lot of cues and stuff like that that you don’t get online.

“I find that you get better discussion in person than you do online. Just better – more ideas, more fleshing (of details). Sometimes people are more comfortable talking in person with other people as opposed to being online.

“Overall, I just find that you get a little more interaction amongst the group when you’re in person as opposed to online."
