Olds RCMP take man into custody in connection with Calgary deaths

At about 3:30 p.m. on May 16 Olds RCMP, with assistance from Didsbury RCMP, took a man into custody in connection with the discovery of a woman and boy found dead in a northwest Calgary home earlier in the day.

At about 3:30 p.m. on May 16 Olds RCMP, with assistance from Didsbury RCMP, took a man into custody in connection with the discovery of a woman and boy found dead in a northwest Calgary home earlier in the day.
The man taken into custody was driving an Acura and a Calgary police spokeswoman said police had received information about a vehicle associated to the home where the bodies were found and the vehicle was located in the Olds and Didsbury area.
Police took the man into custody just south of Olds about a kilometre north of the intersection of Rge. Rd. 15 and Twp. Rd. 320 in Mountain View County. The man was arrested without incident.
At roughly 12:50 p.m., an eight-year-old boy and a woman were discovered dead at a home in the 200 block of Evanspark Circle NW in Calgary and police began searching for the Acura.
A Calgary Police Service helicopter as well as a police canine unit were used in the search.
Police do not know what connection the man taken into custody played in relation with the discovery of the bodies in Calgary.
He has not been charged yet and he is not considered a suspect at this time.
As of late afternoon on May 16 the man was being transported back to Calgary for an interview with police.
Emergency medical personnel did attend to the man taken into custody at the scene to assess his condition but police said that no injuries resulted from the arrest.
Police also used spike belts to secure a section of Rge. Rd. 15 to prevent the vehicle from escaping, but the vehicle did not go over the spike belts.
Police were still at the scene as of 5 p.m. May 16.
