OLDS — Some equipment breakdowns hurt Town of Olds' employees’ ability to clear snow and ice the way they wanted to this winter, but those problems have been fixed and they’re back at it, operations director Scott Greico says.
Greico made that statement during town council’s Feb. 7 policies and priorities meeting.
He said snow removal resumed that day after some equipment breakdowns occurred the previous week.
He also said some equipment breakdowns occurred before Christmas, a period when extremely cold weather began to settle in over the province.
Greico said Town of Olds officials have received some positive feedback regarding snow removal, but also some negative comments, especially in cul-de-sacs.
“We are addressing those with the equipment breakdowns by providing extra sanding resources within those cul-de-sacs,” Greico said.
“When we have these breakdowns, we try to do our best to address the problem areas as soon as we can. As you can see, the crews are out and they’ll be continuing on, mostly with ice control at this point, until our next snowfall.”
Residents can be notified of when snow clearing is planned for their neighbourhood by signing up for that service via the town’s website, he said.
