SUNDRE — Plenty of east- and west-bound motorists recently driving through town were feeling charitable as they without hesitation and in many instances enthusiastically contributed with a smile to the Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society’s annual Charity Check Stop fundraiser.
The society's annual fundraiser, which is conducted along the Highway 27-Main Avenue corridor in front of the Freson Bros. grocery store, generates revenue for community support programs and activities.
Organizers, volunteers, and no doubt drivers as well could not have hoped for better weather on Friday, June 10 when the sun shone bright with just a few clouds hanging in an otherwise clear, blue sky.
Several members of emergency services including the local RCMP, Sundre Fire Department, and the municipality's community peace officer, joined society volunteers and board members for the event, which ran from 11 a.m to 5 p.m, to provide all hands on deck for one the society’s main annual fundraising events.
The society recently announced its intention to increase office hours and expand programs and services by launching an ongoing campaign called Sundre Strong.
