SUNDRE — Council has approved a recurring request submitted by the Sundre Rodeo & Race Association to relax the municipality’s noise bylaw for the coming weekend’s rodeo performances and entertainment.

The Sundre Pro Rodeo starts this Friday with the final performances happening Sunday.

Linda Nelson, chief administrative officer, told council on June 13 during a regular meeting that the association was once again seeking its annual exemption to the noise bylaw for a period not to exceed the period between Friday, June 24 to Sunday, June 26.

Nelson added that once the municipality’s new community standards bylaw has been approved, such recurring items will no longer need to come before council.

However, since that bylaw is not yet in place, she added the noise relaxation request sill required a specific council motion.

Council proceeded to unanimously carry a motion to that effect.
