SUNDRE - A Sundre man facing a charge of second degree murder following the shooting death of a fellow resident in January will be back in court later this month.

Richard Mcculloch, 36, is charged in the death of Justin Goodhand, 36.

RCMP say Goodhand was shot at a residence northeast of Sundre.

Police were called to a rural location outside Sundre on Jan. 25 after receiving a report of a man being shot.

“Officers attended and located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” police said on Jan. 25.

“Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene and the male was transported to local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”

Mcculloch was remanded in custody and appeared in Alberta Court of Justice Didsbury on Jan. 29.

He will be back in Didsbury court on March 25 for election and plea.
