The Sundre RCMP detachment’s newest member, who started his position earlier this summer, said a career in policing has appealed to him about as long as he can remember. “It’s definitely something I was always interested in,” recently said Const.

The Sundre Fire Department welcomed the community last Wednesday, Oct. 9 during the annual Fire Prevention Week open house. The event included live demonstrations, family friendly activities, as well as snacks and refreshments.

Sundre’s mayor suggested amending the municipality’s letter to the provincial government expressing concerns about the proposed changes to the police funding formula to include recommendations.

A monthly community course offers participants not only a chance to learn some healthy recipes, but also to connect with people.

There are a few changes coming to the annual charity check stop fundraising drive. “The biggest one is that it’s earlier than usual,” said Sari Werezak, Greenwood Neighbourhood Place’s executive director.

Although the Sundre Fire Department’s roster remains relatively strong and close to capacity, there have been a few vacancies open up among the higher ranks over the past year or so. “We’re not full,” said Chief Marty Butts.
