This past year was not drastically different from last year for Sundre's community peace officer.

Although the Sundre RCMP has received fewer calls for service over the past year, there has been an increase in property crimes. The Sundre RCMP detachment's Sgt. Jim Lank presented council with a report comparing 2015 statistics to 2014.

Feedback on the new Snake Hill Beta Loop natural trail was largely positive, but one councillor would have preferred more input from the community in a survey released in October.

Although there have been instances of increased domestic disputes in some areas, the Sundre RCMP detachment's commander said that's probably due to people becoming more likely to call the police.

Sometimes no news is good news. Town council heard from the Sundre Fire Department's deputy chief Kevin Gamble during its Nov. 23 meeting that the total number of calls this year was about on par with previous years.

The annual Christmas market was held on Sunday, Nov. 15 at the Sundre Community Centre, which was packed with vendors offering a wide variety of goods with the holidays around the corner. The next and final market takes place Sunday, Dec. 6 at the community centre.

For many people, Christmas is a time to give, but for some people, it provides an opportunity to steal.

The Sundre Regional Recreation Advisory Committee is no more — at least for the time being. Council discussed at its Nov. 9 meeting the committee's decision in October to be dissolved.
