Hundreds of residents of all ages attended Remembrance Day ceremonies in Didsbury, Carstairs and Cremona, paying solemn tribute to the fallen, and commending past and current serving Canadian Armed Forces members.

The Mountain View County policies and priorities committee has reviewed about $25 million in proposed capital and operational projects as part of the 2017 budget process.

Representatives of a dozen Alberta municipalities attended a rural Internet workshop at Mountain View County (MVC) office to explore options for improving service to outlying homes and businesses.

Remembrance Day services are scheduled across Mountain View County, including in Didsbury, Carstairs and Cremona. Ninety-five-year-old Alice Airriess is one of those scheduled to be at the Cremona service.

Female hoopsters will get a chance to work on their shooting skills this Saturday, Nov. 19 at a free clinic at Hugh Sutherland School in Carstairs. The clinic is open to all girls from grades 6-12.

DIDSBURY – After being closed for renovations for three months, the Didsbury Aquatic Centre is set to open on Nov. 12. The pool has been closed since Aug.

STARS – Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service continues to be a valuable, life-saving part of the emergency response system in the region, the Mountain View County policies and priorities committee heard last week.

The 2016-17 Mountain View Cowpoke Junior Rodeo Club season is underway. The first rodeo of the season was held at the Raecer Ranching Arena at Westward Ho on Oct. 29. In all, 89 young competitors took part.
