A 59-year-old Bowden man was killed Sept. 27 when the flatbed truck he was driving struck a gravel truck that was stopped on Highway 595 while preparing to turn north on Delburne Road. The crash occurred shortly before 7:50 a.m.

The Olds College Board of Governors has approved the designation of 7.4 hectares of college property east of the wetlands for the Prairie Turfgrass Research Centre.

Construction of the new fire hall should begin sometime later this fall after council ratified third reading of a borrowing and construction bylaw at town council's regular meeting last week. It should be done by the end of September 2012.
