INNISFAIL - In just over a month there will be an unprecedented feast on Main Street, the 110-foot- long table kind.

More than 100 vehicles, including a wide variety of vintage classics, were a welcome feature of Sundre’s annual community Canada Day events this year.

Sundre is celebrating Canada Day starting at the Sundre Pioneer Village Museum, which above and beyond offering traditional family-friendly activities is also for the first time hosting a car show featuring shy of 100 cars and trucks until 4 p.m.

Evan LaGrange, 12, represented Olds in the Alberta Provincial Music Festival and placed first in the province for 12-and-under musical theatre ballad, first in 12-and-under musical theatre uptempo and second in male vocals, 12 and under.

BOWDEN - The new community hall in Bowden is now officially the Paterson Community Centre after the $2.4-million facility at 2101 27 Ave. near Highway 587 was officially opened June 16.

Indigenous Day events scheduled for Friday, June 22 have been moved indoors to the Cow Palace, to avoid the rain expected that day. However, the schedule of events will remain the same, Olds Institute Mitch Thomson says.

An organizer of Faith Fest, a gospel music festival held June 16 at the Cow Palace, was a huge success, according to organizer Andrea Hawiuk, who co-hosted the event, along with Wayne McCrackin of the Potter’s Clay Quartet. "(It was) wonderful.

A collection of some of local artist Anne Burchill's latest works is now on display until Aug. 15 at the Mountain View Museum and Archives in Olds.

Sundre and surrounding area residents looking for some family-friendly activities to celebrate Canada Day need to look no further.

Veronica Reist, co-founder of the Olds Image Seekers Club, loves not only loves taking pictures, but also displaying them with pride and joy. Recently, her photography could be seen at the Mountain View Museum.
