A total of nine skaters from the Olds Figure Skating Club competed in Carstairs Jan. 27 to 29 at ICE FEST, bringing home 10 medals from the competition.

The Olds Grizzlys lost a pair of tight games in Alberta Junior Hockey League action last week, dropping a 3-2 decision on Friday to the Canmore Eagles and a 2-1 contest to the Drumheller Dragons on Jan. 30 at the Olds Sports Complex.

The Jan. 28-29 weekend marked the end of the 2012 regular season for the Innisfail Eagles. The boys were on the road to face off for the last time against their rivals, the Sylvan Lake Admirals, for their fourth and final meeting.

The Olds High School senior boys basketball team was defeated 76-53 by the Canmore Collegiate High School Crusaders in the final of the Spartan Classic tournament hosted on the weekend at the Ralph Klein Centre.

The Olds Grizzlys split a pair of games last week in Alberta Junior Hockey League play against the Calgary Mustangs and Camrose Kodiaks. The Grizzlys lost 4-2 on Jan.

The Olds Midget Mustangs won two games and lost once in North Central Minor Hockey Association games last week. The wins came Thursday against the Red Deer Midget Kings Energy (9-3) and a 10-1 win against the Sundre Midgets Saturday.
