A full house of about 120 people came to the Olds Legion Friday for a breakfast meeting to brief businesses and residents on the impact that new manufacturing firms and other businesses will have in the community in the next few years.

Another sponsor has come forward to help cover costs for amenities at the new Rotary Athletic Park of Olds, now under construction along 70th Avenue, just north of the Cornerstone area.

An Olds resident was scheduled to appear in provincial court in Didsbury Friday by closed-circuit TV to face 63 charges ranging from vehicle theft to fraud and forgery.

A 16-year-old Olds High School student is about to embark on a trip to Ethiopia, to teach residents there the importance of recycling. Jayden Ord is travelling there with his parents, Jared Ord, a dentist, and his wife Lindsay, a dental hygienist.

BOWDEN – The new $2.3-million Bowden Community Hall will officially open next month with all bills paid.

Olds town council has defeated a site specific amending bylaw that would allow a house to be replaced on a specific piece of property in land zoned highway commercial. The property is located at 4522 47th Ave., just north of Highway 27.
