Bowden residents could have a shiny new nostalgic diner as soon as Christmas this year, said Scott Shaw, who is installing the stainless-steel eatery on the east side of Bowden between the Westwind and Pelican Motels.

Town of Olds council passed a motion approving the allocation of the NU-2-U Thrift Store 2010 financial surplus of $26,500 to community projects. In the past, the NU-2-U surplus supported the programs and services of the Olds Neighborhood Place.

Town of Olds residents can expect to pay nine per cent more for their natural gas, starting on Jan. 1, 2012. Town council voted to increase the town's franchise fee rate from 27.5 per cent to 30 per cent at its regular meeting last week.
