Ten people were thrilled to carry the MNP Canada Winter Games torch through Olds last Thursday. The Games take place Feb. 15 - March 3 in Red Deer.

Noah Kiemel has played hockey for most of his life and is excited by his opportunity to play with the Olds Grizzlys. The 20-year-old defenceman is originally from Colorado Springs, Colo., and has been on ice since he was four years old.

Eleven members of Olds and District Special Olympics (ODSO) will be participating in the 2019 Special Olympics Alberta Winter Games next month. The Games take place Feb. 8-10 in Calgary.

The Olds Bantam AA Grizzlys hockey team completely dominated their home tournament, outscoring their opponents 31-2 over the course of the four-day competition. They won the gold medal, creaming the Camrose Bulldogs 9-1 on Jan. 20.

INNISFAIL -- The 73rd annual Farmers and Farmerettes Bonspiel brought curlers from across the region together for another week of fun and fellowship. The event also included a past Canada Winter Games gold medallist from Innisfail.
