A couple of Sundre High School students recently won medals in track and field events, while several others placed among the province’s top 10.

INNISFAIL – For more than 50 years the Innisfail Pro Rodeo has been the spot in Central Alberta for non-stop rodeo action.

Olds track coach and throwing athlete Rachel Andres has been nominated for Athletics Alberta Senior Athlete of the Year. The awards banquet takes place on June 15 in Calgary.

Local youth Keegan Hodgson continues to take the wake surfing world by storm.

CARSTAIRS -- A pair of Hugh Sutherland School (HSS) students did well at the recent Alberta High School Track and Field Championships at Foothills Athletic Park in Calgary.

Members of the École Olds High School Spartans girls' rugby team are still basking in their glory after winning the school's first rugby sevens bronze medal during provincials, held May 31-June 1 in Edmonton. They downed Sturgeon 17-14.

DIDSBURY -- A number of Didsbury Aqua-Jets hit for personal bests at the team's home swim meet on Saturday at the Didsbury Aquatic Centre. Aqua-Jets president and meet manager Monika Rosenke said the meet went very well.

The Sundre Soccer Club’s season is already nearly over, with the year-end barbecue lined up on June 19 followed the next week on June 26 by a fun game of parents versus kids.

Above and beyond the traditional elements that people have come to expect of the Sundre Pro Rodeo, the upcoming 40th annual event will also include some new features.
