Three members of the Olds Gymnastics Club (OGC) are competing in the provincials, which take place in Red Deer, April 13-15.

The annual Olds Open Bonspiel attracted 24 teams, up from 22 last year, according to Jeff Miller, one of the event's organizers. The spiel took place March 16-18 at the Olds Curling Rink.

The Sundre Skating Club’s annual ice carnival, which this year had a circus theme, officially brought to an end another successful season. “We always like to end on carnival because it’s so much fun for the skaters,” said coach Lyndsay Stange.

Olds College rodeo team head coach Guy Kelley is looking forward to "a full house" when the college holds an alumni rodeo March 24. It's a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the rodeo team.

INNISFAIL – Third time’s a charm for local archer Blake Anderson. The 16-year-old recently returned from his third appearance at the Alberta Winter Games with his first gold medal.

INNISFAIL – Their final beautiful game victory concluded a successful season for the Innisfail Titans. The local indoor soccer squad won their last game of the season 8 to 5 against the Camrose-2 team in Red Deer at the Collicutt Centre on March 10.

Two players have signed letters of intent with the Olds Grizzlys. They are defencemen Tanner Scott of Red Deer and Joel Shoemaker of Crossfield, both of whom were born in 2000.

CARSTAIRS - The Carstairs Skating Club held its annual winter skating carnival on Sunday at the memorial arena.

CARSTAIRS - Minor hockey wrapped up in town on the weekend with all three Carstairs Atom teams winning their respective CAHL (Central Alberta Hockey League) championship finals.

Former Olds resident Andreas Troschke is setting his sights on qualifying for the world junior championships in hammer throw this spring. Troschke finished the indoor season earlier this month by throwing a personal best of 17.
