DIDSBURY-OLDS -- Students from half a dozen Chinook's Edge School Division schools competed in a badminton meet on April 3 at the Ralph Klein Centre in Olds.

The Innisfail Eagles were in Olds on Thursday (April 4) for their first of two practices this week as they prepare for the 2019 Allan Cup. The Birds are in Sylvan Lake tomorrow (Saturday) for their second practice.

Olds College Broncos men's volleyball head coach Ryan Marsden has been named to Volleyball Canada's men’s team coaching staff for the 2019 international season. Marsden has been named assistant coach of the s enior B team.

Local residents as well as current and former Olds Broncos athletes did well in a badminton tournament held March 23 in the Ralph Klein Centre.

Seven members of the Olds Gymnastics Club (OGC) are getting ready to compete in the artistic provincials, April 12-14 in Edmonton.

LACOMBE – It was a close battle. After falling 4-1 to the Lacombe Generals in Game 1 of the senior AAA provincial championships Saturday night (March 30) in Innisfail, the local Birds tied the Generals in Lacombe on Sunday.

CARSTAIRS-CREMONA-DIDSBURY -- The local hockey season has finished for another year. Many teams from the area did very well in playoff competition both regionally and provincially.

CARSTAIRS -- Curling season wrapped up in Carstairs on the weekend with the mixed wind-up bonspiel, which was held from March 28-31 at the Carstairs Curling Club. The bonspiel featured 26 teams from Calgary, Cochrane and Carstairs.

Former Olds High School student Andreas Troschke, now a student at the University of Lethbridge, won bronze in weight throwing during the USports' National Indoor Track & Field Championship.
